Starting as an import trading company in 1927, we have been developing our business with many overseas suppliers and domestic customers over the years. Through our services of connecting the two together, Higuchi has become the well trusted "Japan distribution channel" for suppliers, and the "dependable vendor" who provides a stable supply of the latest high-valued overseas products to customers.

Today, we conduct not only importing but also exporting businesses, trilateral trades, and overseas business investments as well. We have also expanded to local subsidiaries in the United States and China, to which we are able to effectively network overseas.

Higuchi believes in the criticalness of providing a stable supply to customers, and we also place the highest priority on the coexistence with suppliers, to whom we can mutually develop together in a long-term perspective. Promotion

Due to the conservative nature of the market in Japan, it may take a while or even a long period of time in order for foreign products to become known in the market. Starting with market research, we will seek out potential customers and exploit markets using optimal methods. Japan holds one of the largest exhibitions in Asia, and we have taken part in each major exhibition over the years. Furthermore, by holding technical seminars with guest speakers, who are known authorities, we at Higuchi have had successful experiences of attracting many prospective clients.

We also value directly communicating with customers, and so, we are not dependent on sub-distributors. Our belief is that direct communication will enable us to grasp the market needs first hand, which is a very important factor in order to do business in a timely and accurate manner. In particular, we focus on our relationship with project team researchers and technicians who actually develop the new products for customers. These vital information regarding the market is then reported back to our overseas suppliers on a regular basis.

This team work with our suppliers allows us to properly promote products in the main stream markets of Japan.

Quality Control

Although we are a trading company, we also put effort in strengthening our quality control system. We have a specialized department for quality control within our company, and the relevant department plays a central role in conducting factory audits of overseas suppliers. Also, the QC department conducts quality inspections and specification tests domestically, and we set the specifications with our customers. Higuchi can further assist overseas suppliers to adjust with the local laws and regulations, as well as the unique business customs of Japan.

In addition, regarding overseas-made equipment, we carry out an acceptance-inspection at our company after import, deliver the equipment to the customer, as well as conduct the installation and qualification process.

Logistics

Through many years of experience in the importing and exporting business, we have accumulated the know-how in trade operations. Domestic and overseas logistics, as well as storage are all accommodated to the characteristics of each product, under the cooperation of our partner companies who are domestic forwarders and warehouse companies, to which products are then delivered on time to customers all over Japan.

Moreover, we store distribution inventory in Japan to keep a stable supply and for quick delivery. Each inventory is stored in a state-of-the-art warehouse that corresponds to domestic laws and protects the products from natural disasters, such as earthquakes.

Domestic Activities

In recent years, we utilize websites dedicated to technicians, and we also send e-newsletters to customers with up-to-date information. Furthermore, we are able to develop applications that are unique to the Japanese market through our affiliations and joint research with universities and research institutions.

We also provide localized services that meet the needs of domestic customers. Some examples include the selection and inspection of food materials, performance evaluation test of analytical testing equipment, capacity evaluation test of production equipment, and various modifications. Especially with regards to compliance, we have strengthened the management system in recent years, and have been thoroughly implementing preventive measures for unfair competition, bribery, as well as export control; which is all aimed towards the creation of a globalized standard system. In addition to our efforts, we are an ISO 9001 certified trading company, and our philosophy is to continuously improve the Quality Management System.
